Young Carrots Steamed in Wine

Ingredients

  • 800 g young carrots (with greens)
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 100 ml Vegetable broth
  • 100 ml Marsala wine
  • Salt
  • a splash lemon juice
  • pepper (ground)

Instructions

    Peel the carrots, leaving a bit of green, and cut them lengthwise in half. Peel the onion, halve it, and slice into thin strips.

    Melt the butter in a pot, sauté the sugar, carrots, and onion strips for about 2 minutes while stirring. Add the vegetable broth and Marsala wine, then simmer gently for about 8 minutes until tender. Reduce the liquid slightly and season with salt, lemon juice, and pepper before serving.
