Ingredients

  • 1 kg tomatoes
  • 2 untreated limes
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp chili strands
  • 500 g gelatin sugar (2:1)

Instructions

    Wash tomatoes, drain, remove stem ends and cut fruit into small pieces.

  2. 2.

    Rinse a lime hot, dry it, peel off some zest. Then halve both limes and squeeze out the juice.

    Cook tomatoes with lime zest and juice while stirring until boiling, then simmer gently for about 5 minutes.

    Pass the mixture through a sieve, mix in sugar and spices, bring to boil again, stir in chili strands.

    Simmer the mixture for about 4 minutes, then pour hot into clean jars and seal immediately. It tastes especially good on whole wheat bread with quark.
