Ingredients

  • various seeds (e.g., sesame, poppy, etc.)
  • 1 packet dry yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 60 ml Rapeseed oil
  • 250 ml milk
  • 20 g sugar
  • flour (for working)
  • vegetable oil (for the baking sheet)
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions

  1. 1.

Mix the flour with the dry yeast. Whisk the egg in a large bowl with salt and oil. Then add the flour and stir. Warm the milk with the sugar and gradually stir it into the dough. Let the dough rise covered in a warm place until its volume has doubled (about 45 minutes).

  2. 2.

Afterwards, knead the dough again on a floured work surface, shape it into a roll and cut it into about 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a strand about 15 cm long and 4 cm thick. Press the ends together to form rings and let them rise covered for another 15 minutes.

  3. 3.

Preheat the oven to 200°C with upper and lower heat along with an oven-safe pan of hot water.

  4. 4.

Place the dough rings in batches into boiling water with a slotted spoon for about 1 minute. Then remove, drain, and place on a greased baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with poppy seed and sesame.

  5. 5.

Bake golden yellow in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes.
