Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 small cans of diced tomatoes (or 800 g fresh peeled and diced very ripe tomatoes)
  • Salt
  • Pepper (freshly ground)
  • fresh nutmeg
  • sugar
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • olive oil
  • 10 basil leaves

Instructions

    Peel the garlic. Heat 4 tablespoons of olive oil and sauté the garlic until translucent. Add the tomatoes, seasoning with 2 teaspoons sugar, salt, pepper, and fresh nutmeg.

    Bring to a quick boil, then cover and simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and season with salt and pepper to taste.
