Ingredients

  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 3 cm ginger (ca. 1 piece)
  • 0.5 tsp Chili flakes
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil (20 g each)
  • 120 g bean or miso paste
  • 3 tbsp sugar (45 g each)
  • 100 ml soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar (30 ml each)

Instructions

    Peel and finely chop garlic and ginger. Together with the chili, sauté in a small pot with oil until golden brown. Add the bean paste and fry briefly. Stir in sugar, soy sauce, and 100 ml water. Bring to a boil and simmer while stirring frequently for about 20 minutes until thickened.

    Blend the hoisin sauce finely if desired, season with rice vinegar, and let it cool.
