Ingredients

  • 300 g flour
  • 200 g cold butter
  • 120 g sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 egg
  • 120 g jam (optional)
  • powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

    Sift the flour onto a work surface, mix with salt and sugar, and create a well in the center. Cut the cold butter into small pieces and distribute around the well; place the egg in the middle and use a knife to cut through all ingredients until small dough crumbs form. Quickly knead with hands into a dough, shape into a ball, wrap in cling film, and chill for about 30 minutes.

    On a floured surface press the dough flat and roll it out to about 4 mm thickness.

    Using cookie cutters of the same shape but different sizes, cut an equal number of cookies from the dough. Punch a hole in the center of the smallest cookies.

    Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven for about 10 minutes. Remove, lift them off the parchment onto a cooling rack to cool completely.

    Warm the jam slightly. Spread a little jam on the large and medium cookies, stack them, and place one small cookie with the hole facing up on top of each. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
