Ingredients

  • 175 g flour
  • 70 g ground hazelnuts
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 0.25 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 75 g sugar
  • 150 g cold butter
  • 2 Eggs
  • flour (for the work surface)
  • 200 g cherry jam
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. 1.

Mix the flour with the nuts, spices and sugar; sift onto a work surface, press a well in the center, spread the butter around the well in small pieces, and beat the eggs into the center. Roughly chop all ingredients with a large knife and quickly knead them by hand into a smooth dough.

  2. 2.

Shape the dough into a ball, wrap it in cling film, and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (356 °F) fan‑heated. Knead the dough again on a floured surface and divide it into four equal portions. Roll each portion into a 2.5 cm thick log and cut into ten slices. Form small balls from the dough slices, spacing them apart on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3.

Using a spoon rest, press small wells into the balls. Warm the jam in a saucepan over low heat and fill the wells. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes. Remove, let cool briefly, and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
