Ingredients

  • 200 g Flour
  • 125 g unpeeled ground almonds
  • 125 g sugar
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 orange (unprocessed)
  • 1 pinch ground cloves
  • 150 g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp rum (optional)
  • flour for dusting
  • 150 g currant jam
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

    Mix the flour with the almonds, sugar, cinnamon, grated orange zest and cloves to make the dough. Beat in the butter using a pastry cutter. Add the egg and knead quickly into a smooth dough. If the dough is very crumbly, add the rum. Wrap the dough in cling film and chill for about 30 minutes.

    Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F). Line one or two baking sheets with parchment paper.

    Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1 cm using a knife. Cut round cookies and from half of them cut small heart shapes in the center. Place the cookies on the sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown, then cool on a wire rack.

    Warm the jam, brush all the cookies with it on the underside and place a heart-shaped cookie on top of each one.

    When all cookies are filled, dust them with powdered sugar and let them dry at room temperature.
