Spicy Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 5 g chili peppers
  • 30 g ginger (piece)
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • 70 g dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa, vegan)
  • 400 ml almond milk
  • 2 Cinnamon sticks
  • 3 star anise
  • cinnamon powder

Instructions

    Wash the chili pepper and ginger and roughly chop them. Split the vanilla pod in half, scrape out the seeds and set aside. Roughly chop the chocolate and set aside as well.

    Add the almond milk with chili, ginger, scraped vanilla seeds, cinnamon sticks, and star anise to a pot and heat. Simmer covered over low heat for about 10 minutes.

    Strain the spiced liquid into a bowl and reheat it in the pot. Stir in the vanilla seeds and chopped chocolate and let melt.

    Divide the spicy hot chocolate into two cups, sprinkle with cinnamon, and enjoy while hot.
