Ingredients

  • 250 g flour
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp Baking soda
  • 50 g butter
  • 150 ml milk
  • flour (for rolling)
  • milk (for brushing)
  • 200 ml whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp vanilla sugar
  • 100 g plain cream cheese
  • powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

    Combine flour, salt, sugar, baking powder and baking soda in a bowl. Add butter pieces. Gradually add milk and knead into a smooth dough. Let the dough rest in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.

    Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) fan‑forced or conventional.

    Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 3 cm thickness. Cut out rounds with a ~5 cm diameter cutter. Place on parchment paper and let rest for about 5 minutes. Brush with milk and bake in the preheated oven, middle rack, for about 20 minutes. Whip the cream until stiff, then mix in vanilla sugar and cream cheese. Let the scones cool slightly, split them in half and fill with the cream.
