Ingredients

  • 225 g flour
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 50 g butter
  • 50 g sugar
  • 50 g raisins (or sultanas)
  • 150 ml milk
  • flour (for working)
  • 2 Tbsp whipping cream

Instructions

    Add the flour and baking powder to a mixing bowl. Cut the butter into cubes and work it with the flour until crumbly. Stir in the sugar and raisins, then create a well in the center. Pour in the milk and mix. On a floured surface knead the dough into a smooth consistency, adding more flour or milk as needed so it no longer sticks to your hands.

    Preheat the oven to 200°C fan.

    Roll the dough out about 1 cm thick and cut circles of roughly 5 cm diameter with a round cutter. Place the dough circles side‑by‑side on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, brush them with the cream, and bake in the preheated oven for 10–15 minutes.

    When the scones have risen nicely and turned golden brown, remove them from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
