Ingredients
- 5 old-fashioned rolls
- 600 g tart apples (e.g., Boskop)
- butter (for the pan)
- 6 tbsp sugar
- 0.5 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp grated lemon zest
- 70 g chopped almonds
- 400 ml milk
- 3 eggs
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 tbsp butter
- powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions

Slice rolls into thin slices. Peel apples, quarter them, remove cores and cut into thin slivers.

Line a large greased baking dish (or two small ones) with a layer of roll slices and spread some apple slivers on top. Sprinkle 3 tbsp sugar, cinnamon, lemon zest and almonds over the layers. Add another layer of rolls and apples.
