Ingredients
- olive oil (for greasing the dish)
- 400 g mostly firm potatoes
- 2 Apples
- 200 g celery root
- 0.5 lemon (juice)
- 200 g Cream cheese
- 200 ml milk
- 1 tbsp freshly chopped rosemary
- Salt
- Pepper (freshly ground)
- 75 g rolled oats
- 50 g flour
- 75 g stale rye bread
- 75 g butter
Instructions
-
1.
Preheat the oven to 180°C fan‑fry. Grease a baking dish with olive oil. Peel and slice the potatoes into rounds. Wash the apples, quarter them, remove the core and cut the quarters into strips. Peel the celery root and slice it similarly, halving or quartering as needed. Layer the potato, apple, and celery slices in a brick‑like pattern in the baking dish and drizzle with lemon juice immediately.

2.
Whisk the cream cheese with milk and rosemary until smooth, then season generously with salt and pepper. Spread this mixture over the apple‑vegetable layers and bake for about 45 minutes.

3.
For the topping, mix rolled oats, flour, and crushed stale rye bread into melted butter; spread this over the gratin about 15 minutes before baking ends, allowing it to crisp up golden brown. Remove from oven and serve in pieces.
