Pickled Pears

Ingredients

  • 1 kg pears
  • 1 Vanilla bean
  • 1 lemon
  • 250 ml white grape juice
  • 250 ml apple juice
  • 25 g raw cane sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cloves

Instructions

    First, boil the jars with lids in a large pot of hot water for about 10 minutes. Then remove the jars from the water and place them upside down on clean kitchen towels to cool.

    Wash, peel, and core the pears. Split open the vanilla bean. Halve the lemon, squeeze its juice, and combine it with grape juice, apple juice, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla bean, and 500 ml water; bring to a boil. Place the pears in the jars.

    Let simmer for about 3 minutes over low heat, distribute the pears into the jars, and pour the hot syrup over them until they are covered. Seal tightly and let the pickled pears cool.
