Ingredients

  • 800 g fish fillet (e.g., cod)
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 egg whites
  • 150 g sesame seeds (for coating; more if desired)
  • 3 Sweet potatoes
  • frying oil
  • Salt
  • white pepper
  • ketchup (for serving)

Instructions

    Wash the fish fillets, pat dry, cut into 3–4 cm pieces, dust with flour and coat in egg white. Then roll in sesame seeds and press firmly.

    Peel the sweet potatoes and cut into long thin sticks (fries). Blanch in plenty of salted water for 2–3 minutes, drain and let dry thoroughly.

    Heat the frying fat in a deep fryer or large pot until bubbling when a wooden stick is inserted. Fry the fries and fish pieces one at a time in the hot oil until golden‑brown. Drain on paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper. Arrange in small bowls and serve with ketchup.
