Ingredients

  • 200 g soft butter
  • 75 g sugar
  • 2 tbsp vanilla sugar
  • 1 untreated orange
  • 3 eggs
  • 0.5 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 pinch Cinnamon powder
  • 300 g flour
  • milk (as needed)
  • 150 g dark chocolate couverture
  • lavender buds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. 1.

Cream the butter in a bowl. Add the sugar and vanilla sugar, then grate the zest of the orange into the mixture and continue creaming. Gradually add the eggs. Mix the baking powder with the cinnamon into the flour and fold it into the egg mixture spoonful by spoonful until a spreadable dough forms. Add a little milk if needed. Cover and chill for about 30 minutes.

  2. 2.

Fill a piping bag fitted with a star tip with the dough and pipe heart shapes onto a parchment‑lined baking sheet. Chill again for another 30 minutes.

  3. 3.

Preheat the oven to 180 °C (fan).

  4. 4.

Bake in the oven for 10–15 minutes until golden brown, then remove and let cool.

  5. 5.

Melt the chocolate over a double boiler or in the microwave. Dip each cookie heart into the melted chocolate using the tip of a fork, place on parchment paper, and allow to set. Garnish with lavender buds if desired.
