Ingredients
- 750 g oranges (untreated)
- 0.75 l water
- 50 ml orange liqueur
- 1 stick cinnamon
- 100 g sugar
Instructions
-
1.
Peel the zest off the oranges so that no white pith remains on the fruit.
-
2.
Place the zest of one orange with water, liqueur, cinnamon and sugar in a pot and bring to a boil.
-
3.
Meanwhile slice the oranges into even rounds. Add the fruit portions to the boiling liquid in batches, cover and let them simmer until cooked but not overcooked. Remove the cooked fruit with a skimmer and place it in a bowl. Once all fruit is cooked, pour the slightly cooled liquid over the fruit.
-
4.
To store the compote, fill screw‑top jars with the fruit, pour the hot liquid over it, seal the jars, leave them upside down for about 5 minutes to create vacuum, then turn upright and let cool.
