Nut Slices

Perfect as a snack on the go or cozy for afternoon coffee at home: The nut slices from Spoonsparrow are guaranteed to succeed!

Ingredients

  • 300 g peeled nuts (1/3 almonds, hazelnuts, walnut kernels)
  • 150 g dried figs
  • 150 g mixed candied fruits
  • 150 g powdered sugar
  • 100 g honey
  • 0.25 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp ground cloves
  • 0.25 tsp ground coriander
  • 0.25 tsp ground ginger
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

    Preheat the oven to 160°C fan.

    Roast the almonds and nuts in a dry pan while stirring briefly, then let cool and roughly chop. Dice the figs and candied fruits, place them in a bowl and mix with the spices and nuts. Place powdered sugar and honey in a metal bowl over a hot water bath. Stir constantly over low heat until the mixture melts and draws threads; then allow to cool slightly while stirring. Stir the honey solution into the prepared nut-fruit mixture and fold in 1-2 tbsp flour. Line a flat, round pan with parchment paper, pour in the dough, smooth or press it down.

    Bake in the preheated oven for 25‑30 minutes. Let cool and release from the pan. Cut into pieces.

    Before serving dust the nut slices with powdered sugar.
