Ingredients

  • 220 g flour
  • 1 egg
  • 180 g butter
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt
  • 150 g dates
  • 80 g chopped hazelnuts
  • 80 g chopped walnuts
  • 50 g butter
  • 100 g almond flakes
  • 50 g sugar
  • 200 g whipping cream
  • 1 yolk
  • almond halves (for decoration)
  • fat (for the pan)

Instructions

  1. 1.

    Process flour with egg, butter, sugar and salt quickly into a shortcrust dough. Shape into a ball, wrap in foil and refrigerate for 1 hour.

    Halve the dates, pit them and finely chop. Melt butter in a pan and roast the nuts in it. Stir in sugar and let caramelize. When the sugar turns brown, remove the pan from heat and pour in the cream, bring back to a boil and fold in the date pieces.

    Preheat the oven to 200°C. Roll two-thirds of the dough thin into a circle about 30 cm in diameter. Line the pan with it, form a 2 cm rim and prick the bottom several times with a fork. Spread the nut mixture on top.

    Roll the remaining dough into a circle 27 cm in diameter and lay it over the filling. Press the edges around with a fork and brush the dough with yolk, decorating with almond halves.

    Bake in the oven for 40 minutes and let cool.
