Ingredients

  • 50 g butter
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tbsp vanilla sugar
  • 180 g flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • butter (for greasing the baking sheet)
  • glaze to taste (e.g., chocolate, vanilla, nut, berry)

Instructions

    Boil 250 ml water with butter, salt and vanilla sugar. Pour in all the flour at once and stir vigorously over low heat until the mixture separates from the pot as a lump. Transfer the dough to a bowl, let it cool slightly, add one egg and whisk smoothly; then fold in the remaining eggs one by one into the lukewarm dough and finally mix in the baking powder.

    Preheat the oven to 200 °C (top and bottom heat).

    Fill a piping bag with a smooth tip with the dough and pipe 15–20 finger‑length strips onto the greased baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes until golden brown (do not open the oven during the first 15 minutes or everything will collapse). Remove from the tray and cool on a wire rack.
