Ingredients

  • 0.25 l white wine
  • 6 tbsp orange honey
  • juice of one lemon
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cloves
  • 4 large apples
  • 100 g marzipan raw mass
  • 3 egg whites
  • Pinch Salt
  • 2 tsp chopped pistachios

Instructions

  1. 1.

Pour the white wine with 4 tbsp honey, lemon juice, cinnamon stick and cloves into a pot and bring to a boil. Wash the apples, remove the core with an apple corer and halve them. Place the apple halves in the wine liquid, steam for about 5 minutes, remove and set in a greased baking dish. Continue cooking the liquid until it thickens into a syrupy consistency.

  2. 2.

Cut the marzipan into small pieces, add to the liquid and stir well. Whisk the egg whites with salt until very stiff. Fold the marzipan mixture in and brush the apple halves with it. Bake the apples in a preheated oven at 225 °C for about 6 minutes. Sprinkle pistachios over the apples and drizzle the remaining honey on top.
