Lentil Soup in Indian Style

Ingredients

  • 150 g yellow lentils
  • 100 g yellow mung beans
  • 0.5 tsp turmeric
  • 900 ml water
  • Salt
  • 3 tbsp peanut oil
  • 0.5 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 red chilies
  • 1 garlic clove (lightly crushed and peeled)

Instructions

    Wash the lentils and mung beans, drain them, then add turmeric and 900 ml water to a pot; bring to a boil, cover, and simmer gently for 40–45 minutes while salting.

    Heat the oil in a pan and fry cumin seeds, chilies, and garlic until the chilies begin to darken. Mix this with the cooked beans and lentils, serve on plates, and garnish with sliced chilies.
