Ketchup with Tomatoes and Plums

Ingredients

  • 600 g ripe tomatoes
  • 400 g yellow plums
  • 1 onion
  • 0.5 EL salt
  • 50 g sugar
  • 2 EL white wine vinegar
  • 0.5 TL ginger powder
  • 0.5 TL mustard seeds
  • 2 Msp peppercorn powder
  • 2 Msp cayenne pepper

Instructions

    Wash the tomatoes, remove stem ends and cut into pieces. Wash the plums, halve them and pit them. Combine tomatoes, plums and all other ingredients in a pot, stir and bring to a boil. Simmer gently at low heat for about 45 minutes with occasional stirring.

    Strain the contents through a fine sieve and reduce until thickened. While still hot, pour into bottles and seal.
