Ingredients

  • 50 g butter
  • 2 Eggs (size M)
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • 250 ml milk
  • 125 ml buttermilk
  • 200 g Flour
  • baking powder
  • a little fat (for the waffle iron)
  • 50 g sugar
  • 250 g low-fat quark
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • 4 tbsp red jam (e.g., cherry, strawberry or raspberry jam)

Instructions

    Melt butter and let it cool slightly. Separate eggs. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Mix yolks with sugar and vanilla sugar.

    Stir in milk and buttermilk. Sift flour with baking powder and fold into the egg mixture. Fold in beaten egg whites.

    Bake crisp waffles in a lightly greased heart-shaped waffle iron. Let them cool.

    Break apart individual heart waffles. Stir quark with vanilla sugar and jam. Fill each pair of hearts with the quark mixture.
