Ingredients

  • 400 g fresh ripe figs
  • 500 ml dry red wine
  • 2 Cinnamon sticks
  • 3 star anise
  • 2 cloves
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 100 ml apple juice
  • 1 untreated lemon (juice)
  • 100 g crème fraîche

    Clean and quarter the figs. In a pot bring the wine with the spices, honey, apple juice and lemon juice to a boil and reduce by half. Add the figs, lower the heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes.

    Remove from heat and let the figs cool in the sauce. Distribute the compote on plates and serve each with a dollop of crème fraîche.
