Ingredients

  • 1 untreated lemon
  • 500 g sugar
  • 5 elderflower buds

Instructions

  1. 1.

Wash the lemon in hot water and slice it into rounds.

  2. 2.

In 500 ml water, bring to a boil with sugar once and simmer gently for about 5 minutes until the liquid slightly thickens.

  3. 3.

Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then add the elderflowers to the syrup. Cover the pot and place it in a cool spot overnight.

  4. 4.

The next day strain the syrup through a sieve and fill hot-flushed bottles. Seal tightly; the syrup is shelf‑stable for several months.
