Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Sour cream
  • 2 tbsp vanilla sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 250 g flour
  • flour (for working)
  • butter fat (for frying)
  • powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

    Whisk the sour cream with vanilla sugar, eggs and salt. Gradually knead in the flour until a smooth, firm dough forms. Wrap in cling film and chill for about 30 minutes.

    Heat the fat in a pot to about 170°C. It is hot enough when bubbles rise on the handle of a wooden spoon held in the fat. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 2 mm thickness and cut into diamonds.

    Fry portions in hot fat for 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Drain on kitchen paper. Dust heavily with powdered sugar, e.g., serve with tea.
