- 1 kg sour apples (e.g., Boskop)

Wash the apples, dry them, and use an apple corer to remove the core. Slice the apples into thin rings about 0.5 cm thick. Either thread the rings onto wooden sticks and bake in an oven at around 40 °C on convection overnight to dry, or string them on a line and let them dry at room temperature for several days (a dehydrator can also be used).
