Apple Compote with Raisins
The apple compote with raisins from Spoonsparrow tastes great for the whole family.
Ingredients
- 50 g Raisins
- 250 ml apple juice
- 1 kg tart apples
- 1 lemon (juice)
- 1 vanilla pod
- 2 Cinnamon sticks
- 1 star anise
- 40 g chopped almonds
- 50 g apple syrup

Soak the raisins in 50 ml of apple juice, cover and let them soak for about 10 minutes.

Meanwhile peel, core, and dice the apples. Mix the diced apples with the remaining apple juice, lemon juice, and 100 ml water in a large pot.

Split the vanilla pod lengthwise, scrape out the seeds with a knife, and add the seeds along with the pod, cinnamon, star anise, almonds, raisins, and apple syrup to the pot. Steam the apple compote with raisins over medium heat for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove the cinnamon stick, star anise, and vanilla pod. Then pour the hot mixture into clean jars. Place the jars upside down for about 10 minutes, flip them back over, and let the apple compote with raisins cool.
