Almond Macarons

Ingredients
- 3 egg whites
- 200 g powdered sugar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 150 g grated almond kernels
- 100 g dark chocolate (grated)
- 1 tsp grated lemon zest
- 40 g peeled almond kernels

Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.

Gradually fold in the powdered sugar, sprinkling lemon juice between additions.

Mix the almonds with the chocolate.

Fold the almond mixture into the beaten egg whites.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Using two teaspoons, drop small cherry-sized mounds onto the parchment, leaving space between them.

Slice the almonds lengthwise with a knife and place on top of the macarons.

Bake in a preheated oven at 160°C for about 20 minutes; remove (the macarons are still soft inside but will finish cooking as they cool). Let cool.
