Ingredients
- 250 g soft butter
- 100 g sugar
- 100 ml rose syrup
- 1 pinch salt
- 0.5 untreated orange (juice and zest)
- 4 eggs
- 400 g flour
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 100 g starch
- 100 ml milk
- powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 160°C fan.

Grease a Gugelhupf tin with butter and sprinkle almond flakes on it.

Cream the butter with sugar and syrup. Stir in salt, orange juice and zest. Gradually add eggs while stirring. Sift flour with baking powder and starch, then alternately fold into the butter‑egg mixture with milk until a smooth, thick batter forms. Pour into the prepared tin, level the surface, and bake for about 1 hour (test with a skewer). Remove from oven, cool, and carefully lift out of the tin to cool completely.
