Ingredients

  • 1 untreated orange (juice and zest)
  • 2 Tbsp softened butter
  • 20 ml rum
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 80 g walnut kernels
  • 4 apples
  • softened butter (for greasing the dish)

Instructions

  1. 1.

Bring the orange juice with the zest, 1 tbsp butter, the rum and the honey to a boil. Roughly chop the nuts, mix them in, and remove from heat.

  2. 2.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F) fan‑forced or conventional.

  3. 3.

Wash the apples, cut off a lid on each, pierce out the core without puncturing all the way through. Hollow out the apples and dice the flesh into small cubes. Mix the fruit with the nuts and fill the apples. Place the apples in a greased baking dish, lay the lids on top and dot the remaining butter in little piles over them. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes until golden brown.

  4. 4.

Remove from the oven and serve immediately.
