Trifle

Ingredients
- 0.5 ready sponge cake (or 6 ladyfingers)
- 200 g mixed candied fruit
- 4 tbsp Maraschino liqueur
- 350 ml milk
- 1 tsp bourbon vanilla
- 80 g sugar
- 50 g flour
- salt
- 200 ml whipping cream
- almond slivers
- 1 untreated lemon

Cut the sponge cake into cubes. Dice the candied fruit finely. Bring the milk and bourbon vanilla to a boil and let it rest for 30 minutes. Beat the egg yolks and sugar until the sugar is completely dissolved. Stir in the flour and a pinch of salt. Heat the egg mixture and gradually add the milk while constantly stirring, adding small portions until the cream thickens.

Dilute the Maraschino liqueur with a little water. In a glass bowl place the candied fruit. Cover with sponge cake cubes or ladyfingers and drizzle with the diluted liqueur. Pour the vanilla custard over it. Whip the cream (with or without sugar to taste) until stiff peaks form and spread it over the vanilla custard. Chill for 1 hour. Grate zest from the lemon peel. Serve the fruit trifle garnished with almond slivers and lemon zest.
