Ingredients

  • red and yellow bell peppers
  • 1 tsp anchovy paste
  • Salt
  • white pepper
  • Lemon juice
  • 4 slices sandwich bread
  • 40 g processed cheese (tomato-pepper)
  • fresh basil
  • 8 slices turkey salami

Instructions

    Place the peppers cut side down on a sheet pan. Grill in the oven for 10-15 minutes until the skin blisters. Remove, let cool, then put in a freezer bag and freeze for about 10 minutes. Carefully peel off the skin with a small knife. Cut each pepper into eight strips and season with anchovy paste, salt, pepper, and lemon juice.

    Roll each bread slice flat with a rolling pin and spread processed cheese on it. Pick off basil leaves and place them on the bread.

    Arrange the pepper strips alternately (red/yellow) on the slices. Cover two slices with salami and top with the remaining two slices.

    Press the sandwiches firmly together. Trim the edges with a large knife and cut each sandwich diagonally once.
