Ingredients

  • 1 kg tomatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • Salt
  • pepper (ground)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 sprig basil
  • 1 sprig thyme
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

    Wash the tomatoes and cut them into small pieces. Peel the garlic and finely chop it.

    Heat the olive oil in a pot, sauté the garlic, add the tomato paste and tomatoes, bring to a boil, season with sugar, salt, and pepper, add the thyme sprig and chopped basil, and let simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes.

    Strain the sauce through a fine sieve or colander and adjust seasoning as needed.
