Ingredients

  • 200 g soft butter
  • 80 g sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 40 ml cognac
  • nutmeg
  • 300 g flour
  • 200 g powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • food coloring

Instructions

  1. 1.

Beat butter with sugar, salt and vanilla sugar until creamy. Stir in egg yolk with cognac and nutmeg, then quickly fold in flour. Roll dough between two sheets of cling film to a thickness of 3‑4 mm. Chill for 2 hours.

  2. 2.

Cut out shapes (stars, animal figures, etc.) with cookie cutters, place on parchment‑lined baking sheet and bake at 180°C for about 12 minutes until golden yellow.

  3. 3.

Remove from oven; let cookies cool briefly on the tray before transferring to a wire rack to finish cooling.

  4. 4.

Whisk powdered sugar with lemon juice to make a glaze. Divide the glaze and tint with food coloring. Brush glaze onto cookies and allow to set.
