Stuffed Fat Pastry

Stuffed fat pastry from Spoonsparrow is always a hit and also great for gifting!

Ingredients

  • 625 g flour
  • 1 egg
  • 100 ml oil
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 250 ml lukewarm milk
  • 150 g apricot jam

Instructions

    Knead the ingredients into a smooth, pliable dough. Divide into two loaves, cover each with a cloth and bowl, and let rest for 1 hour.

    Warm the apricot jam with 3 tbsp water and strain through a sieve.

    Roll one loaf thin on a floured surface and cut into strips about 10 cm wide. Spread a strip thinly with apricot jam, place another dough strip on top, press lightly. Grab both ends of the strip with your hands and stretch it loosely in length so that the strip becomes almost twice as long. Cut off rhombus shapes and immediately bake the stuffed fat pastry in hot fat. Place the jam side down and spoon hot fat onto the top of the fritters with a ladle. Repeat with the remaining dough.
