Spritzgebäck Basic Recipe

Quick dessert: Spritzgebäck is perfect for gifting, bringing, and snacking.
Ingredients
- 175 g softened butter
- 75 g powdered sugar (from cane sugar)
- 0.25 tsp Salt
- 1 vanilla bean (pulp)
- 1 Egg white
- 150 g spelt flour
- 50 g ground hazelnuts
- 25 g cornstarch
- 150 g dark chocolate (60% cocoa)

Preheat the oven to 180°C (fan 160°C; gas: level 2-3). Cream the butter with powdered sugar, salt, and vanilla pulp, then add the egg white. Whisk until frothy. Combine spelt flour, hazelnuts, and cornstarch in a bowl. Add this dry mix to the butter mixture and stir until incorporated.

Fill a piping bag fitted with a star tip with dough and pipe 4 cm long sticks onto parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until golden yellow. Remove from oven and let cool.

For decoration, roughly chop the chocolate and melt it over a double boiler. Dip each stick halfway into the melted chocolate. Place on a cooling rack to set.
