Chocolate Churros
You can easily make chocolate churros at home. Here’s a beginner-friendly recipe!
Ingredients
- 1 pinch salt
- 300 g wheat flour type 1050
- 200 g dark chocolate couverture
- 200 ml whipping cream
- 1 tsp grated organic orange zest
- 200 ml plant-based frying oil
- 1 tbsp Raw cane sugar
Instructions
-
1.
Bring 500 ml water to a boil with salt, then add all the flour at once and stir with a wooden spoon. Heat for about 3 minutes while stirring until the dough forms a loose ball that separates from the pot bottom. Transfer the dough to a bowl, cover, and let rest for about 10 minutes. Then fill a piping bag fitted with a medium star tip (≈1 cm).
-
2.
Chop the chocolate and melt it in a metal bowl over a hot water bath while stirring, adding the cream. Let the sauce cool slightly before mixing in the orange zest.
-
3.
Heat oil in a tall pot or deep fryer to 170 °C. The oil is ready when small bubbles rise on the stick of a wooden spoon placed in it.
-
4.
Pipe the dough into 12‑cm long pieces and fry for 4–5 minutes until golden brown, turning once. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
-
5.
Sprinkle the churros with sugar and serve warm with the chocolate sauce for dipping.
