Simple Chocolate Cake with Jam Layer
A simple chocolate cake that becomes juicier and tastier with a jam layer! A hint of gingerbread spice and the glaze refine the recipe!
Ingredients
- 220 g soft butter
- 100 g sugar
- 4 eggs
- Salt
- 100 g honey
- 420 g flour
- 2 tsp gingerbread spice
- 4 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tsp Baking powder
- 50 g chocolate chips
- 140 ml milk
- 100 g plum jam
- 100 g dark chocolate couverture
- 2 Tbsp whipping cream
- sugar snowflakes
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) with upper and lower heat. Grease a springform pan and dust it with flour.

Cream the butter with sugar, then gradually fold in eggs with a pinch of salt and honey. Mix flour with spices, cocoa, baking powder, and chocolate chips; alternately stir into the butter mixture with milk.

Pour batter into prepared pan, smooth top, bake for about 50 minutes, check with a skewer. Let cool, release from pan, then chill.

Cut the cooled cake horizontally in half. Spread jam thinly on the lower layer and place the second layer on top.

For garnish, chop chocolate and melt over a double boiler with cream; let cool slightly. Coat cake with glaze, allow to set briefly, sprinkle sugar snowflakes, and let firm. Slice and serve.
