The bread dumplings are easy to prepare and make a perfect side dish for meat, game or vegetarian main courses.

Ingredients

  • 6 old-fashioned rolls
  • 200 ml milk
  • 1 Shallot
  • 0.5 bunch Parsley
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 Eggs
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • nutmeg

Instructions

    Warm the milk in a pot over medium heat. Slice the rolls into thin slices. Place them in a bowl and pour the milk over them. Let stand for about 30 minutes. Peel and finely chop the shallot.

    Remove the stems from the parsley leaves and finely chop them. Add half of the chopped parsley with the shallot to the roll slices. Mix well. Add the egg and knead into a loose dough. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

    With wet hands form four small bread dumplings. Drop them into boiling salted water and let cook for 10 to 15 minutes on medium heat (do not boil). Remove and serve warm.
