Punsch with Star Anise

Ingredients

  • 200 g sugar
  • Rum (as needed)
  • 2 l white wine
  • 1 lemon (unprocessed)
  • 1 l black tea (strongly brewed)
  • 1 l apple juice
  • 1 star anise

Instructions

    Add the sugar to a large pot and mix with enough rum to form a thick mass. Warm the mixture while stirring. Once the sugar has dissolved, flambé it and deglaze with wine, then continue heating.

    Slice the lemon into thin rounds and add the tea, juice, and star anise. Heat everything together but do not bring to a boil. Before serving, remove the spices if desired.
