Potato Gratin

The classic potato gratin from Spoonsparrow offers satisfying fiber that also supports your gut health.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp soft butter (for greasing the dish)
  • 1 kg mostly waxy potatoes
  • 1 Garlic clove
  • 300 ml heavy cream
  • Salt
  • black pepper (freshly ground)
  • nutmeg
  • 100 g cheese (e.g., Gouda, Edam)

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 180°C (fan‑forced 160°C; gas: level 2–3). Grease the baking dish with butter if needed.

    Wash, dry, peel and thinly slice the potatoes lengthwise. Layer them in the dish. Peel the garlic and press it into the cream. Season generously with salt, pepper, and nutmeg, then pour over the potatoes.

    Grate the cheese and sprinkle over the gratin. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour.

    Serve garnished with fresh chervil if desired, accompanied by a small bowl of sea salt and pink peppercorns.
