Poppy Seed Flambé with Marinated Lime Strawberries
A delightful dessert featuring a visually striking poppy seed custard topped with lime‑marinated strawberries.
Ingredients
- 600 ml whole milk
- 40 g cornstarch
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 4 tbsp poppy seed butter
- 500 g strawberries
- 2 Organic Limes
- 3 tbsp powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp orange liqueur

Take 8 tablespoons of the milk and whisk in the cornstarch, vanilla sugar, and sugar until smooth. Bring the remaining milk to a boil, stir in the prepared starch mixture, and simmer for 1–2 minutes while stirring continuously. Fold in the poppy seeds and pour into a bowl or a chilled mold. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.

Wash, trim, and halve or quarter the strawberries. Thinly zest the lime peel with a zester or grate it. Squeeze out the juice and whisk together with the zest, powdered sugar, orange liqueur (or juice) until smooth, then mix in the strawberries. Pour the custard over the fruit if desired, arrange on a plate, and garnish with lime slices as preferred.
