Ingredients

  • 800 g flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 60 g yeast
  • flour (for dusting)
  • 2 red onions
  • 3 Garlic cloves
  • 4 beef tomatoes
  • 4 red chilies
  • 8 slices raw ham (or bacon as substitute)
  • 4 tsp ketchup
  • 4 tsp tomato paste
  • 750 g mixed ground meat
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp pizza herbs
  • Salt
  • black pepper (freshly ground)
  • 500 g shredded cheese (e.g., Gouda, Emmental)

Instructions

  1. 1.

Mix the flour and salt in a bowl and make a well. Dissolve the yeast in 300 ml lukewarm water, pour into the flour well and stir with a little flour. Cover and let rise for about 15 minutes, then knead everything with 150 ml lukewarm water into a relatively firm dough. Knead vigorously until the dough is smooth and elastic. Let the dough rest covered in a warm place for 30 minutes.

  2. 2.

Preheat the oven to 200 °C (fan‑forced). On a floured surface, knead the dough again, divide it into four equal portions, and roll each into a round flatbread. Grease four baking trays and place the dough on them.

  3. 3.

Peel and finely chop the garlic. Peel the onion and slice thinly into rings. Wash the tomato, halve it, remove seeds, and cut into large cubes. Wash the chili and cut into pieces with or without seeds depending on desired heat.

  4. 4.

Slice the ham into strips. Mix ketchup, tomato paste, and pizza herbs together and spread over the dough.

  5. 5.

Brown the ground meat with garlic in hot oil until crumbly, fold in the tomatoes and season with salt and pepper. Spread the meat mixture onto the pizza, lay the ham strips on top, add the onion rings, scatter the chili pieces, and sprinkle cheese. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
