Pickled herring without cream from Spoonsparrow: the sharp vinegar brine preserves and imparts an aromatic flavor!
Ingredients
- 200 ml white wine vinegar
- 100 g sugar
- 8 salt herring fillets (ready to use)
- 2 onions
- 2 pickling cucumbers
- 1 tsp black peppercorns
- 2 Bay leaves
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
Instructions

Bring the vinegar with the sugar and 125 ml water to a boil in a pot. Then let it cool.

Pat the herring fillets dry and cut into about 2 cm pieces. Peel the onions and slice into thin rings. Slice the cucumbers into fine rounds. Distribute the fish, onions, cucumbers, and spices into two sterilized jars and pour the vinegar brine over them. Seal tightly.
