Pasta with Meatballs and Tomato Sauce

- 500 g spaghetti (1 pack)
- 500 g tomatoes (canned tomatoes)
- 1 large onion
- 3 Garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt
- Pepper (freshly ground)
- 1 tsp sugar
- freshly grated nutmeg (1 tsp)
- 400 g minced beef
- 3 shallots
- 0.5 tsp Chili flakes
- 2 Eggs
- 6 tbsp breadcrumbs
- Salt
- Pepper (freshly ground)
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley
- 6 tbsp Olive oil

Peel and finely chop the onion. Peel the garlic. Heat oil in a pot. Sauté onion and garlic until translucent. Add tomatoes and cook uncovered over high heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and season with sugar, salt, and pepper. Set aside. Add nutmeg and parsley. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions, drain, and serve with sauce.

For the meatballs, peel and chop the shallots. Mix minced beef with shallots, chili flakes, eggs, salt, pepper, parsley, and breadcrumbs. If the mixture is too soft, add a bit more breadcrumbs. Form many small balls and fry them in hot oil until browned on all sides. Drain on paper towels and serve over spaghetti. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
