Pasta with Meatballs and Tomato Sauce

Pasta with meatballs and tomato sauce by Spoonsparrow tastes good for the whole family again and again.
Ingredients
- 2 onions
- 2 Garlic cloves
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 1 large can tomatoes (800 g drained weight)
- 2 tbsp Tomato paste
- 0.5 tsp Sugar
- 400 g minced meat
- 4 Tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp parmesan (freshly grated)
- 2 tbsp mixed Italian herbs (finely chopped)
- 400 g spaghetti
- Salt
- pepper (ground)

Peel and dice onions and garlic cloves, sauté in 2 tbsp hot oil. Remove half. To the remaining oil add tomato paste and tomatoes with liquid, mash with a potato masher, simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes. Season tomato sauce with salt, pepper and sugar.

Knead minced meat, remaining sautéed onions and garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, parmesan and herbs; season with salt and pepper. With damp hands form small balls. Brown in the remaining hot oil all sides. Place in tomato sauce, let simmer for about 10 minutes.

Meanwhile cook pasta in plenty of boiling salted water until al dente. Plate pasta with meatballs and tomato sauce and serve.
