Pasta Meat Bake

Ingredients

  • 2 dried tomatoes (pickled in oil)
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 400 g mixed ground meat
  • 1 tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 400 g peeled tomatoes (canned)
  • Salt
  • Pepper (freshly ground)
  • 2 tbsp freshly chopped thyme
  • sugar
  • 400 g macaroni
  • 200 g shredded mozzarella
  • 50 g Parmesan
  • butter (for the pan)

Instructions

    Preheat the oven to 180°C fan.

    Drain the dried tomatoes and chop them finely. Peel and dice the onion and garlic. Briefly sauté in hot oil in a pot. Add the ground meat and cook until crumbly. Stir in tomato paste, dried tomatoes, and peeled tomatoes. Season with salt, pepper, thyme, and sugar.

    Cook the macaroni in plenty of boiling salted water until very firm. Drain and set aside. Mix mozzarella with parmesan. Layer the macaroni with the meat mixture and half of the cheese blend in a greased baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the final layer of pasta and bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
