Overnight Oats with Apple and Walnuts
A breakfast that tastes like fresh apple pie? And gluten-free too? With Overnight Oats with Apple and Walnuts from Spoonsparrow, no problem.
Ingredients
- 75 g buckwheat flakes
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- a pinch of salt
- 250 ml milk (3.5% fat)
- 1 tbsp apple sauce (15 g; no added sugar)
- 2 tbsp chia seeds (10 g)
- 1 apple
- 1 tbsp maple syrup (15 g)
- 2 tbsp walnut kernels (30 g)

Mix buckwheat flakes with a little cinnamon and a pinch of salt. Add milk, apple sauce, and 1 tbsp chia seeds; stir well and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

On the next morning, wash the apple, quarter it and core it. Slice one half into thin slivers and dice the other half. Place the diced apples with maple syrup and remaining cinnamon in a pot, heat, and caramelize for 2–3 minutes.

Meanwhile, roughly chop the walnuts. Divide the overnight oats into two bowls or sealable jars.

Top the oats with apple slivers, caramelized apple cubes, and walnut kernels, then sprinkle with the remaining chia seeds.
